Virgin Mobile, just one of many different types of companies under the Virgin Group, is one of the hottest providers of mobile phone services in the United Kingdom, as well as the United States. With many other providers, both prepaid and contract phones utilize minutes to retrieve messages from the voice mail box. Virgin Mobile has a few regular calling tariffs and a few prepaid tariffs that Virgin Mobile customers are able to choose from. The plans that Virgin sponsors do not really utilize many daytime minutes, but they operate off of the same network that T-Mobile customers operate off of, which makes for a rather extensive customer base. Virgin Mobile tariffs are really designed for the customers who do not need a whole lot by way of minutes or messages, making it ideal for those who have their mobile phones more for emergency purposes than constant communication purposes.

Virgin Mobile has ten calling tariffs, ranging from 20 to 250 daytime minutes and up to 500 text messages on some of these plans. Overage charges apply to any minute or text message that falls outside of what the calling tariff allows, which is how many mobile phone providers make a chunk of their revenue.

Then there is the Virgin Pay-As-You-Go Tariff. They offer free voicemail retrieval and discounts on text messages and calls that are made to and from other Virgin Mobile contract or prepaid mobile phones.

Outside of that, call charges and text messages range anywhere from 15p to 35p per minute or message, depending on whether they are made to landline phones or mobile phones during off peak and peak times of the day and week.

Virgin Mobile is a great mobile phone alternative for those who are looking to have a phone for emergency purposes, for a teenager or even a young child to add security.
