The Next Android Generation Of Technology!
It was only a matter of time until one of the mobile phone manufacturers decided to take the development of mobile phone technology one step further. There are so many features crammed into the average handset that it would be difficult to design something even more impressive and yet HTC have done just that. The T-Mobile G1 is the first phone of its kind on the market and is actually Android based.
The T-Mobile G1 is one of the most functional handsets around today. It is a touch screen phone and comes in two colours, so you can choose either black or white depending on your preference. However, if you want a really stylish handset then you may not choose the T-Mobile G1 at all because it is practical rather than sleek and stylish. T-Mobile has done a great job in sticking to emphasizing the features rather than wrapping a weak phone up in a gorgeous and sexy little wrapper.
The T-Mobile G1 itself has a 3.2 inch screen that simply dominates the phone. With a display resolution of 320×480, the images and icons produced are clear and detailed so you can actively make the most of it. The QWERTY keypad is hidden under the screen and slides out, thus making navigation and overall use much more effective and efficient. It slides out smoothly with no apparent catching or jamming, which has been a problem with this kind of phone in the past and the keys are well spaces and easy to use.
There are some slight niggles with the appearance of the T-Mobile G1 though. For example, the screen does have a tendency to attract fingerprints and the navigation wheel to be found on the upper face of the handset is not as responsive as it should be given the sheer weight of features.
Looking at the features, the T-Mobile G1 Android phone gives you the opportunity to customise your desktop and includes all of the relevant web applications from Google. You can access Google Maps as well as Gmail and YouTube on the handset. You can open as many browser windows as you like at once via the HSDPA connectivity or WiFi and make full use of the phone.
There is a 3.2MP camera built into the T-Mobile G1 so you can get a little pleasure out of it, although it is the source of one design flaw. There is no flash built into the camera so the pictures often do not do the camera or the screen resolution justice. There are no such problems with the music player, which is easy to use and produces high quality sound so you can enjoy it to the full.
The T-Mobile G1 is a very capable handset but the general consensus is that T-Mobile are relying too heavily on other external companies coming up with software packages and extra features for them to boost the phone’s skill set. There are better phones out there today but as this is the first Android offering, much of the technology that will add all of the features we have come to expect is in development. The T-Mobile G1 is a great place to start but one thing is for certain, the popularity of the Android phone is only just beginning.
