Sony Ericsson is the proud parent of the Walkman brand. Throughout a huge amount of their devices they have turned out the Walkman and CyberShot capabilities. Within the Zylo, the Walkman function has made its celebrity cameo yet again, with hopes of growing a new generation of teenage followers. However, does the Zylo continue to carry the prestigious baton of its predecessors?
The device itself has a 2.6’’ 16M-colour TFT screen, strengthened with a scratch-resistant surface. In terms of user interface, the Zylo is a slide phone with the standard number keypad. The camera featured is 3 mega-pixel fixed focus and geo tagging; however it is absent of LED flash. The device also sports video recording capabilities in a MP4 format (a format that is considerably better than VGA)

Due to the device wearing the Walkman logo proudly, you would imagine the music playing performance of this phone is of a high standard. The interface of this player is fun and interesting, with alternating displays featuring a tape, a turntable and several others. The audio output is of an excellent standard, certainly in-keeping with Walkman’s mission. The largest disappoint however is that the device is void of a 3.5mm audio jack, meaning an unfortunate return of the standard issue headphones and the unforgiving output port.
Connectivity of the device is quite basic, as the Zylo supports dual-band 3G, quad-band GSM, Bluetooth and USB. The web browser itself is a pleasant experience and is quite nicely matched with the screen size. The device also offers social networking integration and a widget-enhanced interface.
