The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is a neat, compacted mobile that fits easily into your pocket, making it convenient to carry around. It’s a nice looking phone with a glossy back finish and the silver keyboard really compliments the black headset. The curved edges in the back makes it fit nicely into your hand.
The Xperia measures 119 x 63 x 13mm and weighs 135 grams.
Compared to some other touch screen phones, the Xperia X 10 offers a 4.0 inch display. This is a capacitive screen that has a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels and offers 65 million colors.

The Xperia’s camera offers you 8 mega pixels with a resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels. The camera takes about five seconds to power up, but when it does, it gives you a plethora of features like 16 x digital zoom, auto focus, LED flash, geo-tagging, face and smile detection, settings for night, snow and document.
There are also macro mode, multi-shot and touch capture.
The video shoots at 30 frames per second at WVGA resolution of 800 x 480 pixels.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 offers the mediascape music player which lets you collate your songs by recently added, recently played, most played and can also randomly select its own playlist for those days that you just don’t care what’s playing.
You even get a number of pre-installed games to keep you entertained.
The X10 incorporates a number of different connectivity features, giving you optimal connectivity to cellular networks and the internet. EDGE and GPRS are both supported and you also get 3G access at speeds up to 7.2 mega bytes per second through an HSDPA connection. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB connections are also provided.
The Xperia boasts a fast web browser thanks to the 1 ghz processor. Unfortunately the X10 can’t support multi-touch and tap to zoom is also not supported. You need to use the magnifiers on the screen to zoom in and out of web pages.
The Xperia has a great internal phonebook that can hold an endless number of fields and entries and also comes with Photocall. This features lets you assign a photo to a certain contact in the phonebook, now every time that person calls you, their picture will be displayed on the screen.
For storing all your photos, emails, texts, etc. the X10 has 1GB of internal memory with a pre-installed SD card of 8GB. But you can go all the up to 16GB by purchasing a larger SD card.
We were impressed by the Xperias large 4 inch touch screen, the addition of a 3.5mm headphone jack, the 8.1 megapixel camera and the bundled apps for Exchange support.
We were a little disappointed in the size of this device; it might be a bit to large for some people. We also thought that the X10 was a little more expensive then some of the other models available.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 offers the user a lot of great features; however, it needs to come down in price in order to compete on the current market.
