Sony Ericsson T650i mobile phone deals Star Quality without the Ego

It’s been a funny old time for Sony Ericsson mobile phones – whilst the Cyber Shot and Walkman models can’t be faulted for image and sound quality, the rest of their range has suffered a bit. Design-wise they’ve fallen behind, and features have been a bit sparse. With their new K770i model, however, the company is back, and how.

The first thing that Sony Ericsson has addressed with the K770i is the complaints from users about design. Coming in what can only be described as truffle brown, its’ a unique and stylish look that sets the handset apart from so many of its competitors. It’s also an extremely slim phone, at just 14.5mm deep, and as such it’s already a big improvement on some of the other mobile phones in the Sony Ericsson range.

Although not quiet up to the standard of a dedicated Walkman phone, the K770i still manages to hold its own in the media department. With the Cyber Shot 3.2mega-pixel camera that allows both auto-focus and a handy little picture blogging tool, as well as streaming video playback, images are both sharp and clear. There’s also a Photo Fix option, so even if you do mess up with any of your pictures, you can make an instant change before saving.

Because the phone comes fitted with Bluetooth as well as the usual USB connection, once you’ve made a video or taken a picture, you can upload it immediately and with very little fuss. With YouTube’s popularity showing no sign of abating anytime soon, the K770i is an ideal partner for both users and fans alike of the video sharing site.

Sound quality on the Sony Ericsson K770i is also more than acceptable, despite not having the acclaimed Walkman software installed. With support for all the major music and media files such as MP3, AAC, MIDI, WAV and more, you won’t be short of music to listen to whilst using your phone. And with the added bonus of Sony Ericsson’s innovative Disc2Phone software, you can transfer all your favourite songs from your computer to the K770i as easily as burning a CD.

With the K770i being a 3G phone, Internet browsing is a lot more satisfying than the standard WAP access usually is. Supporting both Xhtml as well as normal HTML, this allows more web pages to be displayed via your phone. There’s also support for RSS so you can keep up-to-date with all your friends blog posts, or even post pictures from your phone directly to your own blog – not bad for a mid-range phone.

Although it only has 16MB internal memory, this can be upgraded via the use of Sony’s now-familiar Memory Stick Micro. In fact, with standby of up to 400 hours, and a healthy 600 minutes talk time on GSM and even 155 minutes using 3G, Sony Ericsson’s K770i manages to bring the fallen giant back into the limelight. All that’s needed is full Walkman specs – maybe next time.
