Continuously at or near the top if the pile when it comes to best-selling slide phones, Samsung have done it yet again with their U600, which is part of their new Ultra Edition II range. Slimmer, smarter and sexier than most other mobile phones currently on the market, the U600 may be small, but it’s big on the feature department.

The first thing that hits you about the Samsung U600 is the extremely large screen, especially considering that the phone is only 11 mm in depth, but that hasn’t stopped Samsung from managing to get a screen that’s 4.5 cm tall onto the unit. And when you use it in conjunction with the 3.2 mega pixel camera, it makes for a more than handy tool, especially with its sunlight mode that adjusts the contrast if the lighting is too bright.

By using the newer version of its touch sensitive technology, Samsung has also allowed the rest of the casing to be clutter-free, with only a couple of menu keys and a navigation dial the remaining points of interest on the front of the phone.

As well as the strong definition offered by its camera, it also has a rather nifty little feature that allows you to take a picture and then use it with your contact info to instantly create a business card for that name. Not super important, but fun all the same.

The U600 also comes with the normal multimedia support, so that you can play your favourite MP3 files as well as through other popular formats such as WMA and AAC. The only real drawback here is that you have to use the headphones supplied, which don’t always give out the greatest of sound. However, with a generous 60MB of internal memory as well as the ability to upgrade to a whopping 2GB Micro SD card, any minor sound issues are soon overcome.

If you’re one of these mobile phone users that likes to send a lot of texts with attachments (and let’s face it, who doesn’t?), then the Samsung U600 comes out trumps again, with a handy little tool names Smart Search that allows you to search all the files on your phone when you want to attach to an MMS. This is automatically offered to you just before you send a text, and is a very useful little feature indeed.

Couple all this up with a good four hours talk time as well as 270 hours standby, and not only is the Samsung U600 a solidly-featured phone, it’s also one that looks good while doing it.
