The screen, while a bit small, still has high definition and with its Croix UI, the screen responds well to touch. It also vibrates subtly to let you know your command has registered. It also has Drag ‘n Drop programs, allowing you to arrange your icons how you like. Its vivid colours and smooth motion makes viewing web pages, pictures, and videos a fun experience. Incidentally, the phone’s navigation is also simple to use, with lots of customizable options.
Internet connectivity will blow you away—this phone features , 3G HSDPA at 7.2 Mbps, Bluetooth with A2DP, USB, EDGE, and GPRS. Options also include the WAP 2.0 XHMTL or the standard HTML as browser choices. However, the F480 Tocco comes with a variety of goodies to make up for it—SMS, EMS, MMS, IM, email, and predictive text. Be sure to check out the neat list of embedded games as well.
Music formats include MP3, ACC, and ACC+, and at 240 megabytes of memory, you’ll be able to store a ton of songs. The microSD memory card allows you an additional 8 gigabytes of space. You’ll also find a nifty little option called Shazam, a program that identifies untitled tracks. As if that wasn’t enough, you also get an FM Radio RDS and a small hoard of polyphonic and mp3 ringtones.
Additional features include your usual cache of convenient programs: a phonebook, calendar, clock, alarm, converter, calculator, document viewer, and speaker phone. The phone also comes with an attractive protective case that you can fit over the phone. Connecting at the battery cover, the case fits smoothly over the top of the phone without compromising its slim appearance or blocking the camera lens, easily protecting the screen from scratches and exposure. However, there is a normal battery cover for those who would rather use their own screen protector or none at all.
Unfortunately, the downsides to this phone are big ones: the sound quality is pretty poor for both music files and speaker phones. If it’s not too dim, then the sound is distorted and tinny. Another big issue is the dropped calls. However, if you are willing to work around these problems, the phone’s additional features help balance out these annoyances.
