Samsung D840 – Fun Has A New Name
Part of the same family of mobile phones that produced the hugely popular D600 as well as the slightly less popular D800, the Samsung D840 is thankfully more akin to the D600, both in design and features. This phone more than makes up for the disappointment that was the D800 and brings the Samsung name back to the forefront of mobile phone design.
At only 11.9 mm in depth, and a less than obtrusive 99 mm height and 51 mm wide, the D840 could never be accused of being a bulky phone. Even its weight is impressively light; at only 100 grammes, it’s weight combines well with the dimensions to make the phone not only easy to carry, but also to sit in a small pocket. Yet its small stature belies the features on it; this is one fully functional handset.
With a screen size of over two inches (2.12″ to be precise) the display screen is both large and clear enough to allow the pictures taken with the 2.0 mega pixel digital camera to look their best at all times. By using the installed Bluetooth software, these can then be shared with other mobile phone users, and vice versa. Samsung has also provided this handset with the latest EDGE technology, so that data transfer is even quicker and smoother.
Since more and more people are using their mobile phones as an integral part of their working day, the fact that Samsung have decided to adorn this phone with a TV output option is a blessing. Now, by using this simple piece of software, you can view and use standard Microsoft software such as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. You can even view PDF files on it, a very welcome addition when viewing certain web pages with the handset’s browser.
As well as the standard MP3 player, the Samsung D840 also comes with a hands free speakerphone option, as well as a voice recorder to make any memos while you’re on the move. Combine this with the Office features that you have, such as a calendar and a handy To-Do list, and this mobile phone will help keep you organised even when you’re not in the office.
With a healthy 70MB internal memory allowance, as well as the option to expand this with additional MicroSD memory cards, Samsung really do have all areas covered with this mobile phone, and more than make up for the slight disappointment that was the D800 before it. A welcome return to form for one of the constantly innovative mobile phone manufacturers around today.
