Samsung C300 Mobile Phone Review – A Durable and Reliable Phone
The Samsung C300 is an attractive little slider phone that won’t hurt your budget. This phone is ideal for the user who wants a variety of features without the risk of becoming overwhelmed with excessive gadgetry. Its reliable interface and durable materials make it a step above the usual small, cheap, flimsy phones.
Appearance:
At 94 g, the C300 is small enough to store almost anywhere you choose, whether it’s a briefcase or a purse, though its plastic casing makes it a bit too bulky for your back pocket. It’s big enough that operating it with one hand isn’t difficult. Its sleek black plastic is able to take considerable amounts of damage. Unfortunately, while its exterior works for protecting your phone, it is something of a magnet for superficial scratches.
The 1.77 inch CSTN 65k colour screen is fairly bright and colourful, but its small size may make browsing the internet a bit difficult. Screensavers and wallpapers show up clearly and vividly. User interface is fairly organized and easy to navigate.
Staying Connected:
The C300’s dual band technology and GPRS connection makes surfing the internet somewhat limited, but if you’re not someone who travels often, this may be ideal for you. The phone comes with a WAP 1.2 browser, allowing you to take advantage of the phone’s many downloadable games.
The phone also comes with SMS, EMS, and MMS for texting. This, however, was met with mixed opinions. While the keypad’s buttons are large, easy to press, and respond well, the interface is decidedly difficult to use. There is no text wrapping, no lowercase option, and the predictive text often causes more problems than it solves. It seems that as long as you stick to uncomplicated texting, these bothersome details shouldn’t be much of a problem for you.
Sound:
When it comes to sound quality, you get decent quality for phone calls. You also get the option of using polyphonic ringtones or vibration alert, though the phone doesn’t allow you to use both at the same time. Also available are voice memos, voice mail, and a handsfree speakerphone. While some find the selection of ringtones to be somewhat lacking, there is the option of downloading additional ringtones via the internet.
Additional Features:
The C300’s organiser is packed with a variety of convenient features, such as a calculator, a currency converter, call records, and more. The uTrack system acts as a handy security function, allowing you to find your phone if it becomes lost or stolen. The SOS message system is also extremely useful if you need to send vital messages in emergency situations. In addition to these useful features, you can also enjoy a variety of embedded games and Java™ Games as well.
Memory:
This phone has two megabytes of memory with no option of adding more. However, this is not a phone where you will be storing photos, music, or chat logs. Its 7.6 hours of talk time and 493 hours of standby ensure that you don’t spend all of your time charging either.
Verdict: This is a wonderful phone if you’re just looking for the basics. However, text enthusiasts are encouraged to browse elsewhere before considering this phone, as the C300 has far too many complications in this regard to be easily ignored.
