Orange Mobile is one of the many mobile phone service carriers in the United Kingdom. They have a loyal client base of 57 million customers worldwide, which, of course, puts it behind both T-Mobile and Vodafone Mobile, but Orange Mobile is a strong presence in UK mobile phones nevertheless. Since 2000, Orange Mobile has been a subsidiary of France Telecom who purchased the company at that point in time.
Not only is Orange Mobile one of the more reputable mobile phone companies in the UK, but they are active in their community as well. Orange Mobile is one of the larger sponsors of many arts and entertainment events in the UK, as well as the sole sponsor of the BAFTA Film Awards and the Orange Fiction Award for amateur authors of fiction stories in the UK.
The great thing about Orange Mobile is that they offer such a variety of calling plans. In essence, there are four levels of tariff calling plans and they are the Canary Plans, the Dolphin plans, the Panther plans, and the Raccoon plans. In addition, Orange Mobile offers three levels of pay-as-you-go service as well, and the Anytime Fixed Rate plan, a cheaper option for pay-as-you-go customers who make a great deal of their phone calls to other Orange Mobile mobile phones. In the pay as you go tariffs, the call charges vary from plan to plan and depend on whether or not the call was made to a landline phone or a mobile phone, and whether or not that mobile phone was an Orange mobile phone or a mobile phone belonging to another wireless carrier.
The different names of the plans, Canary, Dolphin, Panther and Raccoon are based on the different types of calling plans that Orange has made available. The different calling tariffs are based on different needs that Orange Mobile customers are in need of, and range from one end of the spectrum to the other in terms of availability. Some customers text more than they talk; text messaging is the primary function of their mobile phone and that is okay for some customers. These customers need one of the tariffs with higher allowances for free or included text messages. All levels of tariff have increased levels of text messaging that go up as the monthly access fee or line rental goes up, but you can also decrease the number of minutes you need accordingly, which allows you to save on your mobile phone bill every month.
Also, the different levels of tariffs that Orange Mobile has to offer its customers have contracts that cover different time spans, from 12 months to 18 months, usually. The longer the contract, the better deal you get on minutes and text messaging and your packages are basically cheaper if you sign up for a longer contract. If you have a 12 month contract, your basic 500 minute 100 text message tariff would cost more than it would for an 18 month tariff contract.
