The Comeback Kid
Nokia haven’t really had much to offer in terms of high-end devices of recent years. As they concentrated the delivery of affordability, it seemed they weren’t particularly in their element with the top of the scale. However, with the return of the N-Series, it seems Nokia are hoping to reinstate themselves at the great heights they are capable of. So what does the N8 have to offer?
The N8 boasts a beautiful 3.5” 16M-colour AMOLED capacitive touchscreen captured in a lustrous aluminium body. The screen itself is protected by the scratch-resistant Gorilla glass display; which maintains the eye-catching AMOLED screen.
This device sports the new Symbian^3; Nokia’s user interface that looks to challenge the already leading platforms such as Google Android and Apple iOS. Although this interface isn’t necessarily instant perfection by any means, it is certainly a solid step in the right direction for Nokia.
Nevertheless, the crown jewel of the N8 is its magnificent camera. The device contains a staggering 12 megapixel snapper with autofocus and xenon flash. This juggernaut camera comes with features such as geo-tagging, face detection, ND filter and an automatic shutter. However, even though the camera is truly spectacular, the interface is quite out of date and awkward to use at times.
In the same respect, the video recording on the N8 is just as good. The handset delivers 720p HD video capture; as well as including a HDMI port which allows users to screen videos on their television.
Connectivity on the N8 is just as impressive with penta-band 3G, Wi Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and microUSB. The connectivity allows for great utilization of internet features, such as the Flash supported web browser and the fully integrated social networking.
