Nokia N73 – The Best Camera Smartphone Money Can Buy
The Nokia N73 is one of Nokia’s smartphone series that has drawn so much attention in the recent past, but for the wrong reasons. The handsets are usually awesome as far as features go, but really let the side down with functionality being poor to middling at best. However, the N73 marks Nokia’s departure from this and passes inspection with flying colours!
Taken on appearances alone, the N73 is anything but attractive, looking completely out of proportion as a result of the large screen, but if you value purpose over image then this won’t matter at all. The screen takes up half of the phone’s face at 2 inches high and has a thrilling 240×320 pixel display. Showing 262,000 colours, the images are of an unbelievable quality that puts other phones to shame.

However, the keypad of the N73 suffers as a result. It is quite small and finicky to use, despite the keys actually being highlighted very well. It is located so close to the bottom of the handset that it can be difficult to text whilst holding it, especially for those with large fingers. The keypad is actually a small price to pay for the rest of the phones though, and functionality more than makes up for it.
The N73 response to the demands of everyday life is excellent, providing bluetooth, infrared, USB, digital recorder, FM radio, MP3, HTML 4.0, Excel, Powerpoint, Word… the list could go on forever. In short, it can fulfil almost anything you ever need or want in a phone.
It is the camera that makes the N73 stand out from the crowd though. The impressive 3.2MP camera is hidden under a sliding panel for protection but as soon as you let it loose you’ll find that this baby can really go! The imaging is simply breathtaking and photos hold this quality regardless of time, place and environment. It is designed by Carl Zeiss and has LCD flash for darker environments, not to mention the fact that all images can be uploaded to photo sharing websites – yes, the quality is that good! The 42MB internal memory also supports this well.
The N73’s success may hinge on the camera, but so does its major negative quality. The panel is not as secure as it should be and has a tendency to move when you don’t want it to. As this activates the camera, it also significantly drains the battery, which isn’t brilliant anyway. Considering the functionality and features though, the two days standby time is better than expected.
The Nokia N73 effectively revolutionizes the way we use phones. If the keypad doesn’t put you off, and it shouldn’t give the high quality of the rest of the phone, you will find that there is nothing more that a phone can do than the N73 does! You will not find a more complete phone if you love features and want a handset that will enhance your life considerably.
