Nokia 6600 Fold mobile phone deals A Classic Design Coupled With Newer Attributes

The Nokia 6600 Fold is an interesting phone with lots of features. Its fold out design makes it a dying breed in an age of touch screens and slide out QWERTYs. Full of quirky surprises and fun gadgets, this is perfect who like a lot for a little. You won’t have to sacrifice style for function with this phone.

Appearance:

The Nokia 6600 Fold has strong, sturdy casing available in purple and black. At 110g, it’s a bit heavy, but its features, such as the screen and keypad, are compressed without sacrificing quality. One of the aforementioned surprises includes the outer display. To the naked eye, there doesn’t appear to be anything on the front of the phone, but tap it twice and ta-dah! You get a secret 1.36 inch OLED unicolour screen that shows you the time, any missed calls, and text messages without having to open the phone. Another convenient feature is that you can discreetly screen phone calls by simply tapping the screen to reject the call.

You can flip the phone open by pressing the release button. The QVGA OLED screen on the inside of the phone is pretty nifty too, featuring 16 million colours. Though it’s small, the display is incredibly sharp and detailed. User interface is fairly simple, though you won’t find much that’s shocking and new. The keypad makes for easy thumbing.

One small downside we’ve noticed was that sometimes opening the phone can be difficult, as the button that flips it open sticks sometimes, which is a bit of an inconvenience when you want to open it in a hurry. Camera:

At two megapixels, the camera isn’t anything special compared to the beefed up camera phones, but it does its job. With an 8x digital zoom, a double LED flash, and a dedicated capture key, you’ll still be able to capture all the photo ops you can handle. Its camera mode displays pictures and commands at both landscape and horizontal view. Themed wallpapers, backgrounds, and screen savers are also available.

The VGA video recorder is pretty handy, capturing up to fifteen frames per second. It also features a handy H263 and 3GPP video player, which shows up nicely on the inside screen. The video streaming supports H264Wja and MPEG4 formats. Adobe Flash Lite 3.0 allows you to edit your clips and movies to your heart’s delight. An added bonus is the 3G video call, which makes for convenient hands free face-to-face chatting.

Sound:

If the Nokia 6600 Fold has a significant downside, it’s the sound. While you do get an FM Radio and the music player supports MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, and WMA formats, the sound is quite dim. However, the phone also comes with video ringtones, a voice recorder, and ringtones in polyphonic, MP3, and AAC to make up for it. The 2.5 mm jack accepts Nokia headphones, however, including the Nokia Stereo Headset WH-50l. (We agree that it’s a shame there’s no 3.5 mm jack, but the Nokia Stereo Headset is certainly worth a try.) One odd thing we noticed was, unlike its predecessors, there is no volume key on the side of the phone—you’ll need to use the keypad to tone things down.

Connectivity:

The phone is lightning fast in terms of internet connectivity. With 3G, Bluetooth, a micro USB, and EDGE as options, you’ll be able to stay connected. No Wi-fi or HDSPA, though, which was a small disappointment, but the phone also comes with an Opera Mini browser and a Nokia mini map browser as well as the usual XHTM and WAP 3.0 browsers. Opera Mini in particular is renowned for making browsing fast and easy. Also included are the usual SMS and MMS programs. Predictive text makes thumbing it easier. You also get audio and voice messaging. Email is nothing revolutionary, but it includes POP3, IMAP4, and SMTP. We would have liked to see a GPS in this phone, but the Nokia Maps are worth checking out.

Memory:

Unfrotunately, the Nokia 6600 Fold isn’t very specious. You get 15 megabytes, which will suffice for bare bones necessities. If you’d like more, you can get four more gigabytes when you add a MicroSD which should beef up your storage a little bit. Chattier users might be a bit disappointed in the measly four hours of talk time, but you get 300 hours standby, so charging shouldn’t be a huge concern.

Verdict:

This is the perfect phone for someone wanting an attractive clam shell phone with lots of trendy features and goodies at a price that won’t hurt their wallet.
