Nokia 5310 free line rental deals Playing Ericsson at its Own Game

With Sony Ericsson pretty much cornering the market when it comes to mobile phones with high quality cameras and music players attached, perhaps it’s not surprising that Nokia is taking inspiration from them. With their new 5310 XpressMusic handset, not only are Nokia making a statement in the multimedia phone market – they’re almost taking it from Sony Ericsson’s design book into the bargain!

In fact, the design of the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic phone is what’s got everybody talking at the minute. Looking not too dissimilar from the Sony Ericsson K770i handset, it’s a slim phone that mixes an attractive red and black colour scheme together to offer a futuristic look. Measuring a meagre 9.9mm deep, with a height of 103.8mm and a width of 44.7mm, it’s also incredibly lightweight at 71 grams; yet it still feels sturdy and comfortable in your hand.

If the design alone isn’t enough to grab your interest, then the features that this handset comes with surely will. Built for the user who wants more than just a phone that plays music, or a music player that takes pictures, the 5310 XpressMusic phone is the closest handset yet to an all-in-one entertainment system. Whether it’s video, music, games or any other form of multimedia fun you’d care to mention, this phone has it all.

For starters, the phone comes with an internal 30MB memory; however, this can soon be upgraded to a whopping 4GB, via the use of the optional microSD flash card. To put this card into perspective, upgrading to 4GB will allow you to store up to 3,000 songs on it. Couple that with the fact that the battery also allows you up to 18 hours of music playback, and you can see why Sony Ericsson fans are looking Nokia’s way.

If there’s one area where the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic phone doesn’t quite reach the standard set by Sony Ericsson’s Cyber Shot phones, it’s the camera. Still sticking with the tried and trusted 2.0mega-pixel specification, it’s the only real area where Nokia seem reticent to improve, which is a shame, especially when you look at how the rest of the 5310 stacks up with its other multimedia options.

Going by the name of the phone alone, you’d expect the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic mobile phone to be a bit of a star performer when it comes to music, and you wouldn’t be wrong. As well as the standardMP3 and WMA media file support, the 5310 also supports the newer and superior MP4 files. This upgrade is also noticeable by the dedicated music player buttons at the side of the large screen. Understated yet still distinctive, there’s a playback button as well as forward and rewind. There’s also an FM radio for good measure.

With its tri-band functionality, 300 hours standby and just over 5 hours talk time, not to mention its impressive music player, the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic mobile phone would seem the ideal companion to users on the go. It may not be an iPhone killer, although what is? However, as a statement of intent to its biggest rivals Sony Ericsson, Nokia has made a phone that evens the playing fields just that little bit more.
