A Decent Mobile Phone
LG has not been saying too much about their latest release, the LG Optimus Me. The Optimus Me is a mid-range mobile phone that runs on the Android operating system. After their huge success with the LG Optimus One you would thing that LG would be really promoting this new release. So, is LG depending on word of mouth to advertise the Optimus Me or is there another reason they are keeping silent?
The Optimus Me is a nice size device that feels good in your hand. The unit measures about 108mm and is constructed of plastic. It offers a 2.8 inch touchscreen with a resolution of 480×320, we’re not thrilled with the size and resolution, but it is good enough for watching YouTube and surfing the web. The screen responds well enough when browsing the internet, however, it is not as responsive as other LG models. The text is quite small but you can fit it into a space by using a double tap.
The Optimus Me offers a 3 mega pixel camera that is average for mobile phones of this price range, however, LG is known for its mobile phone optics, so this camera is somewhat disappointing. It does offer a variety of features such as sepia tone, negative and solarise and the ISO and white balance can easily be adjusted. You can also record video but only in VGA format so the quality is quite poor.

The media player is also average but it does support a number of music and video formats. LG has included the popular 3.5mm audio jack so you can enjoy using your favourite headphones.
When it comes to connectivity, the Optimus Me supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and HSDPA. There is also a micro SD card slot so you can store all your photos and music and it makes transferring files nice and easy.
Since the Optimus Me runs on Android Froyo, you get all the Google features like Gmail, YouTube and Google Maps. With access to the Android Marketplace you will always be entertained with all the apps and games available to you.
The Optimus Me uses a 600MhZ processor which should give you enough power for day to day usage.
Unfortunately, because of the small screen things may feel a little cramped especially in landscape mode and the internal memory is only 140MB, so a micro SD card is a must.
All in all, we thought that the LG Optimus Me is a pretty decent mobile phone. It is solid and compact and although it is not the top of the line, it is quite functional for a unit in this price range. Apparently LG didn’t boost about this model since there is really not too much to boost about. It’s just a decent mobile phone that is easy to handle and has a variety of functions and is in the right price range.
