Simplistic and Easy on Your Wallet
The LG KS360 is perfect if you want a phone to keep in touch with your friends without making your wallet cry. You won’t find a lot of the features you’ll see on more beefed up phones, but don’t be fooled. This phone contains an awful lot for being such a tiny thing.
Features include a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a colourful 2.4 inch screen. An odd little addition is the touch screen on the top of the phone that allows you to dial numbers without sliding out the keyboard. For those of you who prefer thumbing it, the keyboard comes equipped with dialing keys as well.
Other features include a two megapixel digital camera. While it has no flash, it works well enough to suit its purpose in bright locations. The camera also records videos in MPEG4 and H263 formats. The phone also has a music player that supports MP3 and ACC formats as well as an FM radio. Users will also enjoy an assortment of polyphonic and MP3 ringtones as well as a few nifty demo games. The sound is one of the LG KS360’s bigger strengths—it is crisp and clear and loud.
Connectivity may be a problem—there is no Wi-Fi or GS connection. The phone is compatible with Bluetooth, however, and houses snazzy email clients as well as some choice MMS, SMS, and IM systems. Speedy texters will also like the predictive text option.
The internet browser is bare bones at best, but it gets the job done and allows you still more ways to keep in touch as you check out the latest posts on MySpace, Facebook, and Bebo. It also sports a tri-band network, connecting with GSM 900, 1800, and 1900.
As for memory space, it doesn’t boast a whole lot at 15 megabytes, but you can compensate with a microSD memory card, which adds over 4 gigabytes worth of space. On the plus side, the battery life is definitely one of its strong points—it lasts for up to 440 hours between charges.
Its size and appearance are one of its more appealing aspects—at 108 g and 101.5 x 51 x 16.8 mm, it’s a slim little phone that will easily fit in your pocket despite the slide-out keyboard. It comes in a variety of different colour combinations, and the candy hued keyboards are sure to delight.
Opinions on the keyboard vary. Some find it unfriendly toward those with big fingers—the keys are rather small and flat and so some find it difficult to text on. However, if you’re used to such a design, it’s a handy device. Along with the usual letter and number keys, there are several shortcut keys that allow you to access phone features as well as email and instant messages quicker.
Verdict:
It’s a wonderful phone for those who don’t like having excessive gadgets and clutter. Inexpensive and simple, it is a phone geared specifically toward talking and texting, with a demeanor and appearance best described as cheerful.
