LG KG320 - A Bag Of Mixed Fortunes
Since its release, the LG KG320 mobile phone has come in for some mixed reviews from its users. Many admire the sleek build of the phone, and the simplicity of its use compared to many other similar models. Its detractors claim, however, that its memory is extremely low and that you constantly have to recharge the battery. So which is it for this phone from the South Korean mobile phone giant?
There’s no doubt that the LG KG320 is a slim mobile phone. Seemingly taking its cue from rivals Sony Ericsson and their ‘K’ series phones, LG have kept this handheld to just 95 mm in height, with a slender 45 mm width and only 9.9 mm depth, so it’s an extremely compact unit, and one which will fit easily in your pocket. Finished in black metal, it’s not the ugliest of phones to look at, although the face buttons are quite large for this size of phone.
However, this is a deliberate ploy on behalf of LG, who have promoted the KG320 mobile phone as one that is aimed at users who don’t need an all-singing, all-dancing technological superstar. This is a mobile phone that your favourite aunt could use and not get drowned in facts and figures. Yet that’s not to say it doesn’t have its fair share of standard features that you’d expect from LG:
- 1.3 mega pixel camera with video playback
- SMS / EMS / MMS messaging and email
- MP3 and polyphonic ring tones
- Bluetooth and WAP internet browser
- 3 hours talk time with 200 hours standby on a standard battery
- 128 Mbytes internal memory
However, it’s in some of these features that any sore points about the handset have come about, especially with the internal memory. Although it’s true you can connect the phone to your PC, and transfer files out of the phone to free space up, with the amount of memory that MP3 ring tones take up, as well as pictures you might take on the camera, you’ll soon be running out of space to keep everything.
The control button on the front of the handset has come in for some flak from users as well; some have complained that it’s extremely slow to navigate around the menus with, while others have mentioned there’s quite a delay in reaction when pressed.
However, that would be to take away from the positives that the LG KG320 brings the user. Although the camera isn’t the most advanced at 1.3 mega pixel, the screen is a TFT version that allows the pictures to be both sharp and colourful. And there aren’t too many mobile phones that are aimed at the less intensive user and still have Bluetooth. Overall, with its slim good looks and sturdy feel, LG have come up with another winner in the KG320, especially for those for whom a mobile phone is just another way to talk.
