Inexpensive and Simple
The LG KF310 is a good phone for those who want an uncomplicated, easy-to-use mobile at a low price. With a 2 megapixel camera, media player, and fairly solid internet connectivity, you’re in for a dependable, straightforward little phone with some nice features.
Appearance:
At 95g, this is a fairly small phone that fits well in the palm of your hand as well as in your back pocket. Its plastic casing isn’t exactly gorgeous, but its 262K TFT colour screen makes up for it, even if it is slightly small at two inches. The only real drawback to the screen is that sunlight reflections can make it difficult to see.
Unlike many clamshell phones in its price range, the KF310 operates via a sliding mechanism instead. It moves fluidly and is easy to manipulate. The buttons are not exactly finger friendly, nor are they impossible to use. The buttons are rather small and difficult to press at times, but the keyboard’s snazzy blue back light makes them easier to see.
Sound:
The KF310 is acceptable when it comes to overall sound quality. When calling, voices are clearly heard on both ends. Music is clear and audible. However, there are moments when the quality turns slightly tinny or abrasive depending on the volume level.
Your phone comes with a handy media player that supports MP3 and AAC formats. You also have the option of playing polyphonic or mp3 ringtones. The media player also has a useful application that allows you to sort your songs and create playlists.
Camera:
The phone’s 2 megapixel camera allows you to take decent pictures in favorable conditions, but its lack of a flash makes taking pictures in dim or dark settings difficult. While there are a variety of settings for taking pictures in dimmer areas, for the best results, it’s strongly advised that you stick to pictures in well lit areas.
Its digital zoom makes up for this somewhat, allowing you to magnify imagines up to four times. Another handy feature is the Burst Shot, an option that allows you to take up to nine pictures at once. You can also take measures to edit your photos on the phone, adjusting the brightness, contrast, and so on.
You also have the option of using a video recorder as well, whether it’s to conduct a video chat or to create clips of you hanging out with your friends. These are typically stored as MPEG4.
Connectivity:
The KF310’s internet connection is one of its strongest points. Its tri-band technology keeps you connected throughout Europe and Asia. (There are also frequencies that allow for roaming if you’re in the US.) You have the options of using a 3G, GPRS, Bluetooth 1.2, or a USB port connected to your computer.
In addition to this, you also get various options for SMS, MMS, and email options to stay in touch. Browsing is made easy with either the WAP 2.0 browser or the Teleca Obigo. You won’t find any fancy options, such as zooming in or out, but it gets the job done.
Memory:
At 45 megabytes, the KF310 has an average storage bank, but you can supplement this with up to 4 gigabytes via microSD memory sticks. This gives you more than enough room to store your mp3s and photos.
The battery life is sure to please, with up to five hours of talk time and 450 hours of standby time between charges. That’s up to nineteen days!
Verdict: The LG KF310 is a good phone for those who want to multitask with a variety of applications and options for a low price. However, very little about this phone actually stands out. If you’re going for a minimalist phone, this may be ideal for you.
