Is Nokia Opening Fire at the iPhone 3G S?

One of the managing directors of one of the most powerful mobile phone companies in the world, Nokia, has launched a scathing attack as the company launches the Nokia N97 as a rival to the ever popular iPhone 3G S, released last month.
The managing director recently stated that he believes that the Nokia N97 will perform better in the smartphone market because it has stronger features and a better functionality than its nearest rival that is offered by iPhone.
Mark Loughran said this: “The new iPhone seems to have the same design and colour, upgrading from a sub-standard two-megapixel camera to a still low 3.2-megapixel camera, and is probably a disappointment for many people given the high tariff and lifetime ownership costs.â€
He added: “The new iPhone is an evolution rather than a revolution and for people trying to decide whether to get a Nokia N97 or an iPhone, it comes down to a decision on performance and value for money.â€
The Nokia N97 has been dubbed as a ‘mini-computer’ in advertising, with iPhone 3G S’ advertising slant saying that the new model’s processor is two times faster than that of the previous model, the iPhone 3G – which is still running alongside the new model on store shelves.
According to statistics, both companies have enjoyed very good sales of their respective models so far – but then again, the race is a marathon, not a sprint and there are still many hurdles to overcome as time goes on.
Time will tell.
