Some of the excellent features that make this phone different from its competitors are that HTC have put an exceptional amount of emphasis on allowing users to personalise their home screen. Similar to an iPhone, where you can drag and drop applications in accordance to how much you use them, the HTC HD2 have made an effort to make the user feel at home by providing them with what they call a ‘canvas’.

The boundaries of what you can do with communication have been breached with the HD2. One of our favourite things about this phone is the way that you can add a person’s Twitter profile, Facebook details, email address and phone number all in one place, meaning that you can ensure all of your communication is centralised. Just like the iPhone have bridged the gap between reading an email from a contact and calling them, HTC HD2 have taken this and have tried to make it better for users, and, in our opinion, have succeeded admirably.

One of the best things about this phone is the way that it has taken proactive steps to address some of the usability issues that remain when you use a mobile phone. A great example of this is the way that there is dual flash next to the 5-megapixel camera to ensure that all shots are made in good light (contrary to other phones which have been doing without flash in the current marker). The phone has also been optimised for transportation, meaning that the user can easily hold a phone conversation whilst they are on the road in a legal, safe and practical way.

Windows Mobile 6.5 has also been included in this phone as part of the homebrewed user interface that HTC have provided for their users. The combination of the efforts between Windows and HTC have meant that this phone is a lot easier to use when you do not have a stylus and when you are relying on your fingers. The screen is incredibly touch-sensitive and the opportunity to use HTC Sense makes this phone a dream.

Lastly, in true-to-HTC form, they have made sure that there is an array of buttons at the bottom of the handset so you do not have to solely rely on a touch screen. The buttons which appear in a panel at the bottom of the device are accepting and rejecting calls, for getting to the Start menu and to navigate your way through the Internet. One thing that we can be sure of at the conclusion of this review is that this phone means business.
