HTC Hero mobile phone deals A First-Rate Smart Phone with Cutting Edge Features

Appearance and UI:

The HTC Hero’s look is not one you’ll soon forget. Its enormous 3.2 inch TFT LCD Touch Screen, easily accessible buttons, and track pad all make it clear that a lot of thought went into this design. It’s blocky structure and hefty weight—135g—may be a bit bulky for some, but when you consider the sheer amount of stuff available on this phone, it certainly isn’t a surprise.

Its screen has maximum productivity in mind and has some truly thoughtful additions. A good example of this is that’s coated Teflon, which does wonders for protecting the screen from grease smudges and fingerprints. Designers have put so much faith in the functionality of this screen that they didn’t see the need to include an additional keyboard or number pad—and judging by the screen’s responsiveness, it was a wise decision.

Its user interface, however, is the crowning jewel of the phone. Named “Sense”, this UI keeps everything you need within easy reach, whether you’re checking business emails or browsing through your Flickr widget. You also have the option of customizing up to seven home screens—not only can you tailor their appearance, but you can choose which applications and widgets are on each one. Our only regret is that it isn’t quite as fast as other phones, but if you can get past the slight lag, you’ll find little else to complain about.

Sound:

The HTC Hero was something of a disappointment in the sound department—while the sound quality for calls and music was top notch, you won’t find much else to play with other than a lackluster music player and polyphonic, WAV, and MP3 ringtones. This is redeemed somewhat by the presence of a 3.5 mm headphone jack, however.

Camera:

Similarly, the Hero’s camera doesn’t exactly dazzle. However, with five megapixels, an autofocus, a series of photography settings, a photo album, and video recording capabilities, it covers the basics. Its lack of a flash, however, will leave you with blurry, grainy pictures in low light.

Internet Connectivity:

The HTC Hero has a multitude of connection options, including 3G HSDPA, DSCSD, wi-fi, Bluetooth, USB, GPRS, and EDGE, plus both a quad band network and an HSDPA 900 & 2100. We especially liked the combination of its snazzy HTML browser and its touch screen—you can zoom and drag with a few easy touches, which is convenient as well as neat looking.

The Hero is an absolute wonder when it comes to communication. Not only does its sensitive screen and touchpad allow for almost effortless SMS, MMS, and IMing, but its email interface rivals some of the best business phones on the market today.

One feature this mobile includes is one that may annoy or delight some users depending on their preferences. Essentially, the Hero combines your Facebook and Gmail contact lists into one cohesive whole, combining profiles and contact information in a way that leaves everything in one convenient place. However, some may find this overwhelming.

Memory and Talk Time:

The HTC Hero’s memory bank is enormous, with 288 megabytes of RAM, 512 megabytes of ROM, and a MicroSD card if, for some reason, that isn’t enough space. While some may fret that its enormous screen and sheer amount of features may suck the life out of batteries, we’ve found that this isn’t the case. Additionally, with 8 hours of GSM talk time and 750 hours of 3G standby time, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy your phone between charges.

Verdict:

The HTC Hero is certainly a mobile that will give the iphone a run for its money. While its size, slight lag, and lack of entertainment goodies may be a turnoff for some, its gorgeous screen, multiple home screens, awesome UI, and loving attention toward social networking make it a highly desirable smart phone.
