I have found an old camcorder , i have set it up to play through the tv but the picture flickures really back. How can i stop it doing this... Its a sony if that helps?

Yes you can purchase a usb cable to connect it to the computer

Probably a bad read/write head.  You can try cleaning it but don't expect a lot.  You can get a cleaning cartridge for each different type - VHS-C  or whatever it is.

1. Player Head might be damaged2. Connection to tv might not be on NTSC3. Player might have Humidity Build up in it4. Try to play another tape if it doesn't work get a Head cleaner5. Sony products suck after two years of usage !

You have to buy a video capture divice USB in any computer store or electronics sales and then you connect it to the usb port on your computer then in the divice you connect the 3 cables: yellow , red and white on it.the divice would cost you like 50 dollars no more and the mayority of divice bring it own program to edit , then you press (capture) and then press play in your camera and it will record it on you computer .The USB cable that the camera brings is only for pictures .The one that I telling you is for video capture.I hope this can help you .Have a great day !

if it has been stored poorely it may have taken in some condensation that means the tape heads are dirty & need cleaning badly if the picture flickers and changes from colour to black and white throw it away its zonked

It shouldn't flicker unless it's a foreign camera or it has problems.

the only way is through a tv card and then connect your cables to the aux in sockets i have done this personally

If after cleaning the camcorder video heads, same problem still occurs, try fast forwarding and fast rewinding video tape before playback

Stain removal is much easier if the stain is worked on as quickly as possible. Sometimes an immediate treatment with cool water and a mild detergent or soap is all that is needed.
