Everything You Need to Know About T-Mobile and Orange’s New Partnership

T-Mobile and Orange Merge
Orange T, anyone?

Both Orange and T-Mobile are still negotiating red tape to see whether or not they can get the merger that they want – however, if it does go ahead, it would almost certainly mean that the new mobile network which would form would be bigger than any other network in the UK and it would outstrip Vodafone and O2 of their titles as the mobile network market leaders in this country.

Even though it has been confirmed that the bids made have been accepted and that Orange and T-Mobile have agreed to working with each other, confirmation of the deal going ahead for definite are still a long way off – this is because of the issue of competition. In the UK, we have an association which is known as the Competition Commission that ensures that all consumers have enough choice in the retail market, regardless of where they shop or what they are shopping for.

T-Mobile and Orange’s aim is to ensure that all customers receive better coverage and streamlined customer services. In addition, it is hoped that the future could see other elements of the Orange portfolio, like Orange broadband, be reviewed and re-branded to coincide with the new network. …continue reading →

Google and Apple Lock Horns Over a Threatening App

Google vs Apple over Application
Google is not used to rejection

Mammoth technology manufacturer Apple have rejected a proposal by search engine and mobile phone manufacturer Google for a new voice application aimed at aiding the Internet experience for the Apple iPhone users. However, this has raised numerous queries about the approval process currently in place for new applications.

According to Apple, the new voice application proposed by Google for the iPhone is said to be a duplicate of certain features that are already quite dominant in current mobile phones available. This movement has seemed to have caused a little controversy over at Apple, as they have begun to think that the system that they currently have in place in order to gain approval for new applications may have a few flaws.

Over the past few years while the iPhone has been widely available to the consumer market, Google has tried to design, develop and manufacture many different applications. The applications that have been designed can now be found across a number of the mobile platforms out there now. It is clear to see that the teams over at Google like to cater to all needs and requirements that anyone may possess.

According to one of Google’s spokesmen, the new proposal for the Google Voice application was submitted to the Apple App Store six weeks ago. Although the said pitch has unfortunately been rejected …continue reading →

Japanese Company to Lead Way into Mobile Internet Heaven

SIM-only mobile phone deals
Research is opening up new possibilities for mobile WiFi access

A Japan-based company has recently disclosed the findings of fresh research ideas to put WiFi connectivity into mobile phones and are currently carrying out further research to ensure the idea can be used in a more practical manner.

With the current restrictions on modern technologies in place, the users of mobile phones have had to access the Internet via 3G or GPRS connectivity. This can’t always be classified as reliable either, and signal strength isn’t always of a high enough standard to receive the chosen pages in a short amount of time. However, the Japanese company KDDI have discovered a new way to use the ordinary 3G phones’ access to strong WiFi areas at work, home and out and about in public too.

Another plus, it is sometimes free of charge if you are out in some restaurants or bars. This can mean more credit for you to text and to call your friends, not to mention the elimination of unwanted charges at the end of the month if you are signed to a contract phone deal.

Normally, to acquire such a service your mobile must be a smartphone, meaning that it has the capability to receive these WiFi signals. Quite a large sector of the consumer market is left with a restricted access to the Internet currently because of this.

It is now believed Internet connections can be obtained through microSD cards. These are rapidly becoming a more and more appealing as it increases internal memory. This significant development in the future of mobile phones could well mean that people have the ability to purchase a memory card that not only holds their videos, photos and music – but allows them to upload it to the Internet seamlessly, too …continue reading →

118 800 Directory
It seems that the directory service 118 800 has had a surge of popularity recently – for all the wrong reasons.

The directory service is one of the only services which offer customers the chance to search for the mobile phone numbers of the people they are looking for.

Since its launch in June, many people have been flocking to the website in order to make their mobile phone number ex-directory – as it has been revealed that using the 118 800 service, people can obtain your number via searching for your name and location.

In the past few days, it was revealed by the directory’s parent company that the site was down after an overwhelming amount of traffic to unsubscribe to the service that people have been registered for by default.

Some people believe that the source of the surge was after a viral email began to circulate around the UK, after a special report about the service was broadcast on a BBC programme.

118 800 is available …continue reading →
