118 800 - Love it or Hate it?

118 800 Directory
It seems that the directory service 118 800 has had a surge of popularity recently – for all the wrong reasons.

The directory service is one of the only services which offer customers the chance to search for the mobile phone numbers of the people they are looking for.

Since its launch in June, many people have been flocking to the website in order to make their mobile phone number ex-directory – as it has been revealed that using the 118 800 service, people can obtain your number via searching for your name and location.

In the past few days, it was revealed by the directory’s parent company that the site was down after an overwhelming amount of traffic to unsubscribe to the service that people have been registered for by default.

Some people believe that the source of the surge was after a viral email began to circulate around the UK, after a special report about the service was broadcast on a BBC programme.

Despite the apparent lack of confidence in the potential of a rival to Apple, LG have said that the objective of the LG App Store’s launch in Asia is to see whether or not there is a platform for expansion on an international scale towards the end of the year. There are condition plans for the development of the software in 22 countries at the moment.
